Whilst a little late in the day we're delighted to announce that we'll be partaking in the Passivhaus institut's Winter Open days this November. As the only participating venue for miles around, if you live in Cheshire, North Wales, Shropshire or Staffordshire (or anywhere else) dont miss the opportunity to come a see a live project and hear about the process of retrofiting a 1960's bungalow to the PHI's EnerPHit plus standard.

The blurb:
The Long Green retrofit is a step-by-step deep retrofit of a typical 1960’s bungalow to the Passivhaus EnerPHit Plus standard. The goal is to take a dwelling like so many others and demonstrate what can be achieved, sharing the journey and the lessons learnt along the way. We aim to take a mundane and tired building and create a comfortable, healthy and efficient family home. Following the Passivhaus Principles and having modelled the scheme within the PHPP, we will in time, be upgrading all of the floors, the cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, adding EWI, replacing all external doors and windows and extending the property to Passivhaus standards. New heating, new MVHR and greatly enhanced airtightness will all contribute to improved performance and comfort.

The project is currently on site, with some works to the existing house completed and the extension commenced. There will be detailed drawings and some construction mock -ups to review as well as a tour of the elements completed. It is therefore a great opportunity to talk to the PH Designer/ Architectural Technologist/Self-Builder about the real-world experience of retrofitting/building to Passivhaus standards.

It is a live building site and we ask that attendee's plan and act accordingly - works are progressing daily and the site will be made as clean and safe as posisble on the day of each tour - exact access to the various elements will be determined before each tour.
